We are after your braaaiiinnnsss in this episode of Trolling with Logic, in which the crew interview Dr. Steven Schlozman, a Harvard psychiatrist, horror fiction aficionado, and author of the 2011 novel “The Zombie Autopsies: Secret Notebooks from the Apocalypse,” the story of a zombie outbreak told from the point-of-view of a medical researcher. Schlozman joins us on this episode to discuss the real medical research that informs his novel and about zombie outbreaks in general.

What’s science and what’s fiction? How do zombie stories tap into evolutionarily-inherited fears of predators and being eaten? What philosophical insights can the zombie mythos give us concerning the persistence or loss of personal identity? Are there examples of real zombies in nature? How might scientists go about mathematically modelling zombie outbreaks? What would be the mostly likely societal response to the discovery of a zombie pathogen? You’ll want to keep your brains intact and engaged as we address these and other interesting questions.
